I am in
the mid stages of a project entitled "Lovers." This is a series of bas-relief
and sculptures in bronze portraying couples in tender physical communion
with each other. On closer inspection, these are not the youthful, "beautiful
people" that we have come to expect, but mature couples in their 70's
or 80's. Most people who have seen the sculptures report that, after
the initial shock, the work evokes a touching quality. It portrays what
everyone hopes for and desires for his or her relationships - enduring
love. |
